Vadodara: Anand Town Police in Gujarat have arrested Ronak Sudhir Christian, who allegedly posed as an IAS officer and used forged government documents and fabricated news reports to create a fake official identity.
Police allege that Christian cheated an Anand-based man of ₹7.70 lakh after promising to arrange his direct recruitment as a deputy mamlatdar.
Accused Allegedly Posed as Gandhinagar Official
According to the police complaint, Christian, a resident of Gamdi in Anand, introduced himself as an IAS officer and Deputy Collector-cum-Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Gandhinagar, despite not holding the position.

The complainant, Niraj Bhupender Singh Patel, who runs a photocopy shop in Anand, allegedly came into contact with Christian during his visits to the shop.
Police said Christian showed Patel a fabricated government identity card and allegedly promised to secure him a government job.
According to the complaint:
- Christian allegedly collected ₹7.70 lakh in cash from Patel, along with another person identified as Saunak.
- The promised government appointment did not materialise.
- The accused allegedly failed to return the money.
- A case was subsequently registered at Anand Town police station.
Fake News Reports Used to Build Official Persona
Police said Christian allegedly created an elaborate false identity rather than relying only on forged documents.
Anand Town Police Inspector J S Kandoriya said, “The accused circulated fake newspaper clippings.”
One such fabricated report allegedly described Christian as “Assistant Collector Ronak Christian IAS” and portrayed him visiting a police station and a PM Shri school in Gandhinagar.
The reports allegedly claimed that he had reviewed police functioning and school facilities, helping create the impression that he was a serving government officer.
Laptop, Printer and Forged IDs Seized
Following the complaint, police surveillance teams were tasked with tracing Christian.
Police said they seized several items from him, including:
- Laptop
- Mobile phone
- Printer
- Forged government identity cards
- Stamp
- Other forged documents
One of the seized identity cards allegedly identified Christian as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, police said.
The investigation is continuing into the alleged impersonation, document forgery and financial fraud.
