Bareilly: A court in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has rejected the bail applications of Dr. Vipra Sharma, accused of posing as a fake IAS officer and impersonating a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and her sister Shikha Sharma in a case involving alleged fraud in the name of government recruitment.
Additional Sessions Judge-10 Raghavendra Mani dismissed the applications after hearing the matter. The sisters are accused of allegedly promising a government job at the Badaun Vikas Bhawan in exchange for money and educational documents, and issuing a forged appointment letter purportedly bearing the name of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).
The case came to light following a complaint by Ramesh Chandra, who alleged that the accused had promised a peon’s position for his son under the disability quota.
₹2 Lakh Allegedly Taken for Government Job

The complainant alleged that the sisters took ₹2 lakh in cash, along with his son’s educational certificates, in exchange for arranging the appointment.
He was subsequently sent an appointment letter by post that purportedly carried the name of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) and bore forged signatures of commission officials.
The alleged fraud came to light when the complainant discovered that the appointment letter was not genuine and that Vipra Sharma was allegedly impersonating a government officer.
Complainant Allegedly Threatened After Seeking Refund
The complaint further alleged that when the family contacted the accused to recover the money, they were threatened with death.
The case centres on allegations of cheating, impersonation and the use of forged documents to induce a family to pay money for a government job.
Prosecution Cites Multiple Cases Against Both Sisters
During the bail proceedings, government counsel Santosh Srivastava reportedly informed the court that several other criminal cases had been registered against the sisters.
According to the prosecution’s submissions cited in the report:
- Vipra Sharma: Approximately 20 cases were reportedly registered against her.
- Shikha Sharma: Around 14 cases were reportedly registered against her.
- Nature of cases: Most were said to involve allegations of similar fraud.
The court rejected the bail applications of both accused. The reported number of cases reflects the prosecution’s submissions and should not be treated as a finding of guilt in those separate matters.
