In the first day of the tenth round of commercial coal mine auctions, five companies secured coal mines, as per an official statement released on Thursday. Among the winners, ACC Ltd. successfully acquired a mine located in Madhya Pradesh, while NLC India Ltd. and JSW Energy Utkal Ltd. each won blocks in Odisha.
Other companies that won coal blocks include Mineware Advisors Pvt. Ltd. and Shreeji Nuravi Coal Mining and Trading Pvt. Ltd.
A total of nine coal mines were made available for sale in this round of the auction. On day one, five mines were up for bid, with one of them being fully explored and the remaining four being partially explored. Collectively, these five coal mines contain geological reserves of 2,630.77 million tonnes, and their combined peak-rated capacity stands at 12 MTPA.
The commercial mining auction was launched by the government on June 21, with the forward e-auctions for the nine mines starting on November 21. Upon full operationalisation, these five mines are expected to generate an annual revenue of ₹1,106.91 crore, attract capital investments of ₹1,800 crore, and create employment for 16,224 individuals.
