New Delhi: Former Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba (Retd IAS: 1982: JH) has been appointed as the new Member of NITI Aayog in the rank of Minister of State. His appointment comes as part of the ongoing reshuffling of key positions within the Government of India. Gauba has been provided with Y-category security cover.
Rajiv Gauba, who has held several prominent roles over the course of his distinguished career, brings with him a wealth of experience. He has worked in key assignments in Bihar, Jharkhand, and at the Union level, notably serving as Union Home Secretary and later, Union Cabinet Secretary. His previous roles also include being the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand and Union Secretary for Housing & Urban Affairs.
Gauba will join the leadership team at NITI Aayog as the fourth member, alongside Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Prof. Ramesh Chand, and Dr. Vinod Paul. NITI Aayog, the Government of India’s premier policy think-tank, plays a crucial role in transforming India’s development strategy.
Currently, Dr. Suman Bery serves as the Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog in the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister, while B.V. R. Subrahmanyam, the former Commerce Secretary, is the CEO of NITI Aayog.
Gauba’s appointment is expected to add significant value to the ongoing projects at NITI Aayog, leveraging his vast expertise in governance and public administration.
