The Gachibowli police are preparing to issue a second notice to senior IAS officer Ms. Smita Sabharwal (2001 batch) in connection with the Kancha Gachibowli disputed land case, following her lack of response to an earlier request seeking her cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

According to officials, the case under investigation pertains to the alleged circulation of morphed and misleading content on social media, including edited clips, videos, and images. The police said that Ms. Sabharwal had reposted certain material related to the case on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, which brought her to their attention.

In the initial notice, authorities had urged the officer to share any relevant information she might have. “Since you appear to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case, you may appear before the investigation officer at a place of your choice to provide any information which may be available with you regarding the same,” the notice stated.

However, with no response from Ms. Sabharwal, Gachibowli police officials confirmed plans to issue a follow-up notice. “We did not get any response to the notice served to her earlier. We may issue another notice to the officer, seeking her appearance before the police officers at the place of her choice to share any information she has,” said a senior police official.

The investigation continues as the police seek to track the origins and amplification of potentially misleading content linked to the land dispute case.
