GAIL Abha: Transforming Homemakers into Entrepreneurs, Says HR Director Ayush Gupta

Indian Masterminds Stories

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Ayush Gupta, Director (HR) of GAIL (India) Ltd., passionately shared the company’s progressive vision for women empowerment during the News9 Global Summit (UAE Edition) held in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on the theme “SHEconomy Agenda,” Gupta spotlighted GAIL Abha, a transformative initiative that is redefining opportunities for women within GAIL’s ecosystem.

GAIL Abha: Empowering Women from Within

Gupta introduced GAIL Abha as a flagship programme designed for the spouses of GAIL employees, particularly those residing in company townships. The initiative aims to transform homemakers and job seekers into confident entrepreneurs by providing them with structured opportunities and support.

First edition impact:

  • 400+ participants
  • 42 ventures
  • 55 entrepreneurs

These numbers reflect the significant reach and impact GAIL Abha has achieved in its debut phase.

Driving Self-Reliance and Community Engagement

The programme, according to Gupta, is about more than economic empowerment — it’s also about building self-reliance, fostering community engagement in remote areas, and enhancing employee satisfaction by supporting their families in meaningful ways.

He remarked that this engagement model is particularly effective in remote GAIL townships, where access to opportunities is often limited, making the success of such initiatives even more significant.

GAIL Abha 2.0: Integrating Digital Tools and AI

Looking ahead, Gupta introduced the ongoing GAIL Abha 2.0, which is bringing digital tools and AI into the learning journey of participants. This evolution of the programme aims to make learning more dynamic, accessible, and scalable, preparing women not just for entrepreneurship, but for participation in a digital economy.

He also expressed GAIL’s broader vision to take the initiative beyond the organisation to reach grassroots-level women, especially in underserved communities.

“Tell Your Story” — Inspiring Narratives as a Catalyst for Change

Underscoring the importance of storytelling, Gupta said:

Whenever you get an opportunity, you must tell the story no matter how small or big, because that story can become a role model or an inspiration for others.”

His message resonated deeply with an audience comprising industry leaders, global experts, and change-makers attending the summit.

Warm Reception from Global Leaders

Gupta’s address was well-received and applauded for its forward-thinking approach and the tangible social impact it reflected. The News9 Global Summit, a platform for global dialogue on inclusive growth, provided the perfect stage to showcase how corporate initiatives like GAIL Abha can contribute to the broader SHEconomy movement.
