New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited (NSE: GAIL-EQ | BSE: 532155) has announced the appointment of Mr. Deepak Asija as its new Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, effective March 6, 2026. He will succeed Mr. Mahesh Kumar Agarwal in this key leadership role, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors at a meeting held on February 27, 2026.
Board Approval and Key Management Change
The Board convened from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on February 27, 2026, and approved the change in Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) in line with GAIL’s operational and governance requirements. Mr. Deepak Asija (Membership No. FCS4565) will officially take charge from March 6, 2026, replacing Mr. Mahesh Kumar Agarwal (Membership No. A69402).
The appointment has been disclosed in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, ensuring transparency and adherence to corporate governance norms.
Profile of Mr. Deepak Asija
Mr. Asija brings over 20 years of experience in the secretarial domain and corporate governance. His professional qualifications include:
- Commerce graduate from Delhi University
- Law Graduate
- Qualified Company Secretary
He has been associated with GAIL since 2004 and served as Company Secretary for GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary, from 2016 to April 2025. Before joining GAIL, he worked with Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) for approximately six years as Deputy Company Secretary.
Mr. Asija’s extensive experience is expected to strengthen regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and operational efficiency at GAIL.
