In a positive development for public health services in Chhattisgarh, a delegation from the Chhattisgarh State NHM Employees Union met Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence in Raipur and announced their decision to call off the statewide strike. The delegation expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for addressing several of their key demands.
As a result, NHM (National Health Mission) employees across the state resumed work starting today, bringing relief to the healthcare system that had been affected during the strike.
Government Prioritizes Public Health and Employee Welfare
Welcoming the move, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai described the union’s decision as a commendable step taken in the interest of the people of Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that the state government views every employee as a vital member of its administrative family and remains committed to resolving legitimate issues through dialogue and coordination.
“Public health is our top priority,” stated Mr. Sai. “The decision of NHM employees to return to duty will significantly strengthen health services and ensure the public receives excellent and accessible medical care.”
Progress on 10-Point Charter of Demands
NHM employees had launched the strike over a 10-point charter of demands. According to official sources:
- Four demands have been fulfilled by the state government.
- A committee has been constituted to evaluate and resolve three more.
- The remaining issues, including mergers, the creation of a public health cadre, and reservation policies, fall under the jurisdiction of the Government of India, and are currently under review at the central level.
The state’s proactive engagement in resolving the concerns has been appreciated by the union, which has reciprocated by ending the strike and rejoining the workforce.
Path Ahead: A Healthier Chhattisgarh Through Cooperation
Chief Minister Mr. Sai expressed confidence that collaborative efforts between the government and employees will lead to a more robust and responsive healthcare system. He reiterated his commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery across both urban and rural areas, ensuring that no citizen is left behind.
With the strike now over, Chhattisgarh looks poised to reinvigorate its health infrastructure, driven by mutual respect, trust, and constructive dialogue between the administration and frontline health workers.
