Ex-Indian Revenue Service officer of 1990 batch, Metta Rama Rao, who took voluntary retirement from civil services is now set to start his own political party, Jai Uttarandhra, in Andhra Pradesh. Rao allegedly said that despite have many natural resources including major rivers like Vamsadhara, Nagavali, successive government have ignored the North Andhra’s development.
Mr. Rao is an engineering graduate and belongs to the Nandigama mandal in Srikakulam district. In the year 1990, he cleared the UPSC exam by scoring an All India Rank 104 to get into the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). He took voluntary retirement from service while working as an Additional Secretary-cadre officer in the Union Government.
Mr. Rama Rao, who unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections from Srikakulam constituency on a Jana Sena Party (JSP) ticket in 2019, said it is his strong belief that a separate political party for North Andhra would be the right platform to work towards achieving the goal of a separate State for the region.
