Two days after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will exclusively focus on conducting entrance exams for higher education institutions starting in 2025, the agency has received a boost in leadership with the appointment of three Joint Directors and one Director from various services.
The move aligns with the government’s decision to relieve the NTA of overseeing recruitment exams, a change prompted by controversies surrounding paper leaks and growing concerns about examination integrity. Minister Pradhan also emphasized plans to enhance the examination process through technology-driven solutions, including the potential introduction of computer-adaptive tests in the near future.
New Appointments in NTA:
- Ms. Archana Shukla (2013-batch ISS officer): Appointed as Joint Director (Deputy Secretary Level) in the NTA under the Department of Higher Education for a period of four years.
- Mr. Amit Kumar (2014-batch ISS officer): Appointed as Joint Director (DS Level) in the NTA for four years.
- Mr. Sandip Kumar Mishra (2007-batch IRS (IT) officer): Appointed as Director in the NTA for five years.
- Ms. Shivani (2013-batch IRPS officer): Appointed as Joint Director in the NTA for four years.
The appointments are seen as a step toward strengthening the agency’s capacity to manage high-stakes entrance exams efficiently and transparently.
The NTA, established to conduct various tests on behalf of the Department of Higher Education, has faced criticism over paper leaks, which jeopardized students’ futures and raised concerns among parents. With the new leadership and technological advancements, the agency aims to restore trust and streamline the examination process.
