In a significant push for infrastructure development and disaster preparedness, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami has sanctioned a series of impactful projects aimed at strengthening connectivity, boosting relief efforts, and accelerating rehabilitation in disaster-affected regions.

Rs. 9.81 Crore Approved for Dunikhat-Ratighat Motorable Road in Nainital
A long-pending demand of residents in the Betalghat block of Nainital district has finally been addressed. The Chief Minister approved Rs. 9.81 crore under the state plan for the construction of a motorable road from Dunikhat to Ratighat, significantly improving rural connectivity and access to essential services for thousands of residents in this hilly terrain.
State Disaster Response Force to Get Smart Command Centre, Tech Upgrades
To bolster disaster readiness and response, Mr. Dhami has approved the establishment of a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) battalion control room as a dedicated command and control center. The centre will ensure real-time information sharing and coordination during natural calamities.
In addition, Rs. 25 lakh has been sanctioned from the SDRF Capacity Development Component for modernizing the system with advanced technology and communication tools.
Corporate Support: L&T Donates Rs. 5 Crore to CM Relief Fund
In a strong example of public-private cooperation, a delegation from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) met Mr. Dhami in New Delhi and handed over Rs. 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The contribution will aid ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by recent natural disasters, including the deadly cloudburst in Nati, Boli district, which claimed seven lives and injured 11.
“The active involvement of the corporate sector during such challenging times provides strength to the state’s disaster relief framework,” said the Chief Minister, expressing gratitude to the L&T team.
Pithoragarh Gets Rs. 4.56 Crore for New Office Infrastructure
In another major administrative push, the CM has approved Rs. 4.56 crore for the construction of a new office building at Dhat Uhasil in Pithoragarh district, enhancing government service delivery in a strategic border region.
Plea for Sports University and Hydropower Development
During his visit to Union Environment Minister Mr. Bhupendra Yadav, Mr. Dhami put forth two key proposals:
- Transfer of 12,317 hectares in Haldwani’s Maulayar area for a proposed sports university, which aims to boost youth development and promote Uttarakhand as a sports hub.
- Approval of seven hydropower projects (total capacity 647 MW) on the Ganga and its tributaries, to sustainably address the region’s growing energy needs.
The Chief Minister stressed that the projects would adhere to environmental protection guidelines and expert recommendations, ensuring a balance between development and ecology.
Uttarakhand Strengthens Disaster Response Strategy
Highlighting Uttarakhand’s vulnerability to natural disasters due to its fragile Himalayan topography, Mr. Dhami reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening disaster management systems.
“We have taken multiple concrete steps to improve disaster preparedness and relief,” he stated.
Following the cloudburst in Nati village, the Chief Minister conducted on-ground inspections in Boli district, met with affected families, and ensured the injured were being treated at local hospitals.
