New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the grant of the Apex pay scale (Level-17 in the pay matrix) to two senior IPS officers from the 1991 batch – G P Singh and Alok Sharma – following a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
G P Singh, Director of CRPF
Mr Singh, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently serving as Director, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). With this elevation, he now draws the apex scale pay reserved for the top-most positions in government service. Shri Singh is scheduled to retire on November 30, 2027.
Alok Sharma, Director of SPG
Similarly, Mr Sharma, an IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre (1991 batch), who is presently serving as Director, Special Protection Group (SPG), has also been granted the Apex scale. He will superannuate on June 30, 2026. The decision reflects recognition of his service in one of the most sensitive and high-security positions in Indian law enforcement.
Recognition of Distinguished Service
The Apex pay scale is one of the highest in civil services and is awarded to officers who have demonstrated consistent excellence, leadership, and have taken on significant responsibilities in their roles.
