GRID-INDIA Honors 30 Scholars for Excellence in Power Systems Research at GIPSA 2025–26 during ICPS at IIT Hyderabad

New Delhi: The 14th edition of the GRID-INDIA Power System Awards (GIPSA) 2025–26, held as part of the International Conference on Power Systems (ICPS) 2025 at the prestigious IIT Hyderabad, celebrated outstanding academic achievements in the field of power systems research. The event recognized 30 scholars—15 PhD and 15 Postgraduate (PG) students—for their innovative contributions to the power systems domain, underscoring India’s growing importance as a hub of cutting-edge research in energy and infrastructure.

The award ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of leaders from both industry and academia, including Mr. Samir Chandra Saxena, CMD of GRID-INDIA; Mr. B.S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad; Mr. Paresh R. Ranpara, Director (HR), GRID-INDIA; Mr. Amit Kumar Jain, Director (Finance), GRID-INDIA; and Mr. M.K. Ramesh, Head of Operations, SRLDC. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between academia and the power sector, which is essential for fostering innovation and academic excellence in India’s energy research landscape.

A Rigorous Selection Process for Pioneering Research

The GIPSA awards reflect GRID-INDIA’s commitment to nurturing high-quality, industry-ready research in the power systems domain. Organized by SIIC, IIT Kanpur, the awards follow a transparent and rigorous evaluation process to ensure that the most impactful research is acknowledged and celebrated. Nominations were invited from leading institutes like the IITs, NITs, and other top universities across India, showcasing the country’s vibrant research ecosystem in the power sector.

After thorough evaluation by a panel of experts, 30 students were selected for their pioneering contributions to power systems and related fields. Their work is expected to play a significant role in addressing the current challenges and shaping the future of India’s power sector.

Key Themes in Power Systems Research

The winning scholars presented research in areas crucial to the advancement of power systems, including smart grids, renewable energy integration, energy storage, demand forecasting, and sustainable grid management. Their innovative approaches reflect the growing need for resilient, efficient, and future-ready power solutions to meet India’s ambitious energy goals.

Mr. Samir Chandra Saxena, CMD of GRID-INDIA, emphasized the importance of such collaborations, stating, “The future of India’s power sector lies in the hands of these young researchers. Their work will drive not just technological advancements but will contribute to making our energy sector more sustainable, resilient, and ready to face the challenges of the future.”
