Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has appointed Dharminder Kumar and Laishram Meenabanta Singh as Part-time Non-Official Directors (Independent Directors) on its Board for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointments have been made pursuant to a letter issued by the Ministry of Defence on October 5, 2026, under which the President of India appointed the two individuals as Independent Directors on the Board of GRSE.
Two New Independent Directors Appointed to GRSE Board
GRSE informed the stock exchanges about the appointments on October 6, following receipt of the Ministry of Defence communication.
The key details of the appointments are:
- Dharminder Kumar appointed as Part-time Non-Official Director (Independent Director).
- Laishram Meenabanta Singh appointed as Part-time Non-Official Director (Independent Director).
- Tenure: Three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
- The appointments will become effective from the date on which the directors are allotted their Director Identification Numbers.
- GRSE will separately intimate the exchanges about the exact effective date of joining and provide the brief profiles of the newly appointed directors.
The appointments are part of the process for strengthening the Board of the state-owned defence shipbuilder with independent representation.

GRSE Receives Ministry of Defence Letter
GRSE said it received the Ministry of Defence’s appointment letter on October 6, 2026. The letter was issued by the Ministry on October 5, 2026.
Following receipt of the communication, GRSE submitted the required disclosure to the stock exchanges on the same day.
The disclosure was addressed to both the BSE and National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and included GRSE’s NSE symbol and BSE scrip code.
Appointment Disclosure Under SEBI LODR Regulations
GRSE made the announcement under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The regulatory filing was signed by Sandeep Mahapatra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, GRSE.
The company said further details regarding the effective date of the appointments and brief profiles of the two directors will be communicated to the stock exchanges in due course.
