New Delhi: India’s largest power station, has commenced the CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Assessment for 2025-26, reinforcing its focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder value creation.
The third edition of the assessment began on October 6, 2026, with an inaugural programme held at the Maitri Sabhagar auditorium. The event was led by Kishore Kumar Hota, Executive Director, NTPC Vindhyachal, and attended by senior management officials, heads of departments, SMC members, shadow officers, and representatives of unions and associations.
CII-Exim Bank Assessment Team Begins Evaluation
The assessment is being conducted under the Business Excellence framework to evaluate the station’s practices, performance and management capabilities.
The assessment team is headed by Dr Kalyan Krishnamoorthy and includes:
- Dr Kamakshi Raman
- Manash Banerjee
- Mohammed Nawshath Ali
- Dr Anjanabha Bhattacharya
- Venugopala S
The team will assess various operational and management practices at NTPC Vindhyachal and provide feedback to support further improvement.

NTPC Vindhyachal Focuses on Continuous Improvement
Addressing the inaugural programme, Kishore Kumar Hota highlighted the importance of continuous improvement and said that “excellence is a journey, not a destination.”
He noted that the assessment and feedback from the team would help NTPC Vindhyachal further strengthen its operational and managerial capabilities. The programme provided an overview of the station’s efforts towards improving operational performance while integrating sustainability and stakeholder engagement into its activities.
Station Highlights Operational and Sustainability Initiatives
Ram Sewak Jaiswal, DGM (EEMG), presented an overview of developments in India’s power sector, NTPC’s achievements and the innovative operation and maintenance practices being followed at Vindhyachal.
A key focus of the programme was the station’s carbon-to-methanol project, which was highlighted as a first-of-its-kind initiative demonstrating NTPC Vindhyachal’s efforts towards developing sustainable energy solutions.
A film showcasing the carbon-to-methanol project was also screened during the event.
HR and Community Development Initiatives Showcased
The assessment programme also highlighted NTPC Vindhyachal’s initiatives in human resource development and community engagement. Kamna Sharma, DGM (HR), presented the station’s initiatives related to employee well-being, skill development and leadership training.The presentation also highlighted the Girl Empowerment Mission, a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NTPC Vindhyachal aimed at supporting and empowering girls through education and development opportunities.
Assessment Team Appreciates Employee Commitment
Concluding the programme, lead assessor Dr Kalyan Krishnamoorthy appreciated the commitment of NTPC Vindhyachal employees and emphasised that achieving business excellence requires continuous innovation, persistence and a sustained focus on improvement.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by M Suresh, GM (O&M), who reaffirmed NTPC Vindhyachal’s commitment to strengthening operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder value creation.
The assessment is expected to provide valuable feedback that can help the station further improve its operational and management practices.
