Bikaner: NTPC Limited has commissioned the second and third parts of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, with capacities of 73.06 MW and 80.88 MW, respectively. The commissioning adds 153.94 MW of solar capacity to the project, taking its total commissioned capacity to 235.28 MW.
The development follows the commissioning of the first 81.34 MW part earlier in September 2026. The latest addition strengthens NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and supports its broader efforts to expand clean energy capacity across India.
NTPC Commissions Two More Parts of Kalasar Solar Project
The second and third parts of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project have achieved commissioning with the following capacities:
- Second part: 73.06 MW
- Third part: 80.88 MW
- Combined capacity added: 153.94 MW
- Total commissioned project capacity: 235.28 MW
The project is located in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and forms part of NTPC’s ongoing renewable energy expansion.
The commissioning of the two additional parts follows the earlier commissioning of 81.34 MW, bringing the total commissioned capacity of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project to 235.28 MW.

NTPC Group’s Installed Capacity Crosses 91,000 MW
Following the latest commissioning, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has increased to 91,456 MW, while its overall commercial capacity has reached 90,376 MW.
The additional solar capacity contributes to the group’s growing power generation portfolio and reflects its continued investment in renewable energy projects.
The commissioning details were disclosed through regulatory filings under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.
NTPC Green Energy Capacity Rises to 11,212.51 MW
The commissioning has also increased the renewable energy capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, its capacity figures following the commissioning are:
- Total installed capacity: 11,212.51 MW
- Total commercial capacity: 11,058.57 MW
The development marks another step in NGEL’s efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio through solar and other clean energy projects.
The company has outlined plans to commission additional renewable energy capacity at several locations over the coming months.
Kalasar Project Part of 500 MW REMCL Round-the-Clock Project
The Kalasar Solar Energy Project forms part of a larger 650 MW solar component being developed under the 500 MW Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) Round-the-Clock (RTC) Project.
The project is being implemented by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited through NTPC Green Energy Limited.
The RTC project is intended to support the supply of renewable electricity under a round-the-clock power arrangement. The Kalasar solar capacity forms part of the broader renewable energy infrastructure being developed for this initiative.
NTPC Green Energy Plans Further Renewable Capacity Additions
NTPC Green Energy management has outlined plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio through additional solar and wind capacity.
The planned additions include:
- Around 1,000 MW at Khavda
- Around 200 MW at Bhadla
- Around 250 MW at Kalasar
- Around 300 MW of wind capacity
These planned additions are part of the company’s broader strategy to increase renewable energy generation and strengthen its clean energy portfolio.
The commissioning of the latest Kalasar project capacity contributes to this expansion effort.
NTPC Discloses Commissioning Through Regulatory Filings
NTPC Limited and NTPC Green Energy Limited disclosed the commissioning through regulatory filings under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.
The disclosures were signed by Ritu Arora, Company Secretary of NTPC Limited, and Deepak C. S., Company Secretary of NTPC Green Energy Limited.
The latest commissioning represents another addition to NTPC’s solar portfolio and supports the group’s ongoing efforts to increase renewable energy capacity across India.
