Bikaner: NTPC Limited has announced the commercial operation of 81.34 MW of solar capacity from the Kalasar Solar Energy Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The newly commissioned capacity is the first part of the project and was declared commercially operational from 00:00 hours on September 26, 2026.
The development was announced by NTPC through a stock exchange filing. The project is being implemented by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and forms part of the 500 MW REMCL RTC Project.
81.34 MW Kalasar Solar Capacity Begins Commercial Operation
The 81.34 MW capacity represents the first part of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project located in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The project is part of the 650 MW solar segment under the 500 MW REMCL RTC Project, which is managed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC through NGEL.

Following the latest solar capacity addition, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has increased to 91,302 MW, while its commercial capacity has reached 90,222 MW.
The latest addition further expands NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and contributes to the group’s overall generation capacity.

NTPC Green Energy Group Capacity Crosses 11,000 MW
With the latest development, the NTPC Green Energy Group’s total installed capacity stands at 11,058.57 MW, while its commercial capacity has reached 10,977.23 MW.
The commissioning is part of NTPC’s ongoing expansion of renewable energy capacity through NGEL and its step-down subsidiaries.
56.7 MW Wind Capacity Added in Gujarat
The latest solar commissioning follows the addition of 56.7 MW of wind capacity in Gujarat on September 22, 2026.
The earlier addition comprised capacity from:
- Vanki Wind Energy Project
- Jamjodhpur Wind Energy Project
Both projects are located in Gujarat and are operated by step-down subsidiaries of NTPC through NGEL.
Together, the recent solar and wind additions highlight the continuing expansion of NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio.
NTPC Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio
Between September 22 and September 26, 2026, the NTPC Group added 56.7 MW of wind capacity and 81.34 MW of solar capacity through its renewable energy operations.
The NTPC Green Energy Group’s reported commercial capacity increased from 10,920.53 MW to 10,977.23 MW during this period. The capacity figures reflect the commercialisation of different project components and phases.
The commissioning of the Kalasar Solar Energy Project is another step in NTPC’s ongoing expansion of renewable energy generation capacity across India.
