New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held an interaction with Uttarakhand residents and intellectuals based in Delhi to discuss the state’s development priorities, including employment, tourism, investment, connectivity and reverse migration.
The meeting was held at Uttarakhand Niwas in New Delhi and brought together people associated with various institutions. Dhami said the Uttarakhand diaspora and intellectuals have an important role in the state’s development journey.
The Chief Minister said suggestions received during the interaction would be considered while framing policies for the state.
Tourism, Investment and Reverse Migration
Dhami said strengthening tourism, self-employment, local businesses and investment was important for Uttarakhand’s economy. He also highlighted reverse migration and said the state had recorded a 44% increase in the trend.

He pointed to opportunities for employment and self-employment for young people and women through sectors such as homestays, small hotels, agriculture and horticulture.
Connectivity and Infrastructure
Dhami described connectivity as an important factor for investment and referred to the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor and air connectivity from the state.
According to the Chief Minister, more than 50 flight services are available from Dehradun to major cities across the country. He also referred to Pantnagar as an important centre for agriculture and industry and highlighted the proposed greenfield airport there.
Jobs, Tourism and Border Areas
Dhami also outlined government measures related to recruitment and employment. He said more than 35,000 young people had been appointed to government services and referred to measures including an anti-copying law aimed at ensuring transparency in recruitment examinations.
He described tourism as a major component of Uttarakhand’s economy and mentioned destinations and events including Char Dham, the Kanwar Yatra and Adi Kailash.
The Chief Minister also spoke about expanding road, rail, ropeway and air connectivity in border areas, along with initiatives related to sports and education.
