Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has taken significant strides in promoting women’s health and empowerment by organizing a series of impactful initiatives under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA). The campaign, launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, aims to improve preventive healthcare and family well-being through a woman-centric approach.
Comprehensive Medical Camps for Women
On 25th September 2025, GRSE’s Medical Department conducted a comprehensive health camp at the company’s RBD Unit, offering critical services to women from nearby communities. The medical camp included:
Tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes screenings
- General medical consultations
- Free distribution of essential medicines
These services were aimed at early detection and timely intervention, aligning with the core objective of SNSPA: “Healthy Women, Empowered Families.”
Awareness Sessions on Critical Women’s Health Issues
In addition to medical services, GRSE conducted health awareness sessions for its women contract employees on 25th September. The sessions covered key health topics, including:
- Cervical and breast cancer awareness
- Anaemia and bone health
- Lifestyle diseases and preventive measures
On 26th September, a similar awareness programme was conducted specifically for CISF women personnel stationed at GRSE. The programme reinforced the importance of routine health checks, balanced nutrition, and mental well-being.
WIPS Session: Empowerment Through Inspiration
GRSE’s Women in Public Sector (WIPS) Cell held a motivational session on 26th September titled:
“सौ समस्याएँ, एक समाधान – स्त्री शक्ति”
(“Hundred Challenges, One Solution – Women’s Power”),
led by Ms. Ritu Bhalotia, renowned corporate trainer and founder of Impact Growth Academy. The session focused on:
- Stress management
- Self-care and emotional resilience
The pivotal role of women in building healthier families and societies
Senior Leadership Participation
The events saw the active participation of GRSE’s top leadership, including:

- Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Director (CP&P)
