New Delhi: In a significant move to strengthen India’s defence preparedness and boost indigenous technology development, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV)—India’s first university dedicated to Transportation and Logistics under the Ministry of Railways—has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
The agreement was formalized in the presence of Dr. Samir V. Kamat, who emphasized that the collaboration would accelerate the development of smart technological solutions crucial for deployment and operationalization of indigenous defence systems.
A Strategic Partnership for National Security
The MoU aims to bring together GSV’s specialized academic expertise and DRDO’s extensive research capabilities. The focus of the collaboration is to create advanced, homegrown technologies that enhance India’s defence ecosystem. These solutions will address key challenges in operational logistics, battlefield readiness, secure communication, and next-generation defence infrastructure.
Collaboration in Advanced Research and Technology Domains
Under the agreement, both institutions will work jointly on critical research areas such as:
- Logistics Management across tactical, operational, and strategic levels
- Operational logistics analysis, concept evaluation, and validation of logistics plans
- Chip design and hardware security for defence-grade systems
- Homomorphic and blockchain-based encryption to strengthen secure communication networks
In addition to research, the partnership will facilitate capacity building, development of skilled researchers, and strengthening of technical manpower in military science and logistics management.
Joint Activities to Drive Innovation
GSV and DRDO will collaborate through:
- Joint research studies
- Seminars, conferences, and round-table workshops
- Faculty and researcher training programs
- Development of advanced defence technologies for real-world deployment
The MoU was signed by Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of GSV, and Dr. Lal Chand Mangal, DS & DG (TM), marking a major milestone for both organizations.
Strengthening Defence–Academia Integration
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya already maintains active partnerships with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, focusing on logistics and supply chain education and research. This MoU with DRDO further enhances GSV’s role in supporting national defence initiatives and expands the scope for advanced, interdisciplinary research crucial for India’s security landscape.
