Role of SPIPA in Guiding Aspirants
A major factor behind this success is the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), which has played a crucial role in preparing civil service aspirants in Gujarat.
According to Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, the foundation for this transformation was laid when Prime Minister Narendra Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
He said that Modi encouraged young people to actively participate in nation-building through public service. As part of this vision, the state government strengthened SPIPA to train talented youth to become capable administrators.
Today, the institute has emerged as a major training hub for UPSC aspirants from Gujarat.
34 SPIPA-Trained Candidates Clear UPSC
This year, 34 candidates trained at SPIPA have successfully cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Over the last three years, the institute has produced 68 successful candidates, highlighting the effectiveness of the SPIPA training model.
The institute provides aspirants with:
• Structured coaching
• Mentorship by experienced faculty
• Study resources and mock tests
• Guidance for interviews and personality tests
This institutional support has helped many aspirants from across Gujarat pursue careers in civil services.
From Hesitation to Aspiration
Officials and mentors say that the mindset of Gujarat’s youth has changed significantly over the years.
Earlier, only a limited number of students from the state attempted the UPSC examination. Today, thousands of aspirants from nearly every district in Gujarat are preparing for civil services, aiming to serve the country as IAS, IPS, and other central services officers.
The SPIPA model has become an example of how visionary leadership, proper guidance, and institutional support can empower young minds.
