Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has approved road infrastructure works worth ₹692 crore in Kutch and Banaskantha districts under its High-Speed Corridor initiative, with projects focused on widening key roads and upgrading a major route to four lanes.
The approved works cover three roads in Kutch and the Shihori-Patan Road in Banaskantha. The state government said the projects are aimed at improving connectivity for rural areas and facilitating the movement of industrial, commercial and agricultural goods.
Key Road Projects
- Kutch: ₹363 crore has been approved for widening and upgrading the Pandhro-Narayan Sarovar Road, Lakhpat-Narayan Sarovar Road and Dayapar-Subhashpar-Pandhro Road. The three roads will be widened from their existing seven-metre width to 10 metres.
- Banaskantha: ₹229 crore has been approved for the Shihori-Patan Road, which is currently 10 metres wide. The project involves widening the road and converting it into a four-lane corridor.

The government said the upgraded roads will improve connections between adjoining talukas and provide better access for villages along the routes. The wider corridors are also intended to facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles travelling to industrial and commercial areas.
The Kutch projects also cover routes leading towards Narayan Sarovar and Koteshwar, two important pilgrimage destinations in the region, as well as nearby tourist locations. The government said the road upgrades will improve access to these areas.
The projects have been approved as part of Gujarat’s High-Speed Corridor initiative, with the state seeking to strengthen road connectivity in Kutch and Banaskantha.
Road Upgrade Details
The works involve upgrading existing road corridors rather than building entirely new routes. In Kutch, the three selected roads will be widened from seven metres to 10 metres, while the Shihori-Patan road in Banaskantha will be converted into a four-lane corridor.
