Gujarat: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today launched the ambitious ‘Mukhyamantri Gramotthan Yojana’ from Bhadran in Anand district, marking a major step toward bridging the urban-rural development gap in the state. The initiative aims to provide modern infrastructure and services in rural areas, enhancing the quality of life for villagers while promoting inclusive growth.
Rural Development Gets a Major Boost
Under the first phase of the scheme, 114 villages serving as Taluka headquarters will receive high-quality development facilities. These include:
- Modern road networks for better connectivity
- Underground drainage systems to improve sanitation
- Solar-powered street lights for energy-efficient public lighting
- Digital e-Gram services to facilitate governance and citizen services
Chief Minister Patel highlighted that the initiative is designed to ensure that rural areas are not left behind in Gujarat’s rapid development story.
Landmark Foundation for Gram Panchayat Ghar and Talati Awas
As part of the launch, CM Patel also laid the foundation stone for 2,666 Gram Panchayat Ghar-cum-Talati Awas buildings, with a total investment of ₹663 crore. These facilities will provide administrative convenience and modern living spaces for Talati officials, strengthening governance at the village level.
Inclusive Growth and Future Expansion
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel emphasized that the Gramotthan Abhiyan will eventually cover all villages with populations over 10,000, ensuring uniform development across the state. He underlined that the initiative is part of Gujarat’s broader vision of bringing urban-standard amenities to rural areas and improving access to essential services for all citizens.
