Gujarat: Govt Promotes 12 IPS Officers, Including Dr. Neerja Gotru to DGP

The Gujarat government announced the promotion of 12 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. Notably, Dr. Neerja Gotru, a 1993-batch officer, was elevated to the prestigious rank of Director General of Police (DGP). Dr. Gotru, who is recognized for her work with the CBI during the investigation of the Aarushi Talwar murder case, will continue to lead the Police Recruitment Board, with her ex-cadre post upgraded to match her new DGP rank.

  • Dr. Neerja Gotru – Promoted to Director General of Police (DGP), continuing as the Head of the Police Recruitment Board.
  • Nipuna Torawane (2000-batch) – Promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and her post as Secretary (Home) in the Gujarat government has been upgraded to Principal Secretary, allowing her to retain her duties with the enhanced rank.

Promotions for 2011-batch Officers:

  • Hitesh Joysar (SP Surat Rural) – Promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police.
  • Dr. Tarun Duggal (SP Mehsana) – Promoted to DIG of Police.
  • GA Pandya (SP Surendranagar) – Promoted to DIG of Police.
  • Chaitanya Mandlik (SP CID Crime) – Promoted to DIG of Police.
  • Saroj Kumari (SP Western Railway, GRP Vadodara) – Promoted to DIG of Police.
  • RP Barot (DCP Zone-5 Surat City) – Promoted to DIG, with his post upgraded to Additional Commissioner of Police.

This announcement reflects the government’s recognition of the outstanding service and leadership of these officers, enhancing their roles to further strengthen the state’s police force.
