To mark 24 years of consistent developmental work beginning with Mr. Narendra Modi’s first swearing-in as Gujarat’s Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, the Gujarat government has announced the celebration of Vikas Saptah (Development Week) from October 7 to 15. The week-long festivities will showcase multi-sectoral progress with active participation from 13 departments across the state, underscoring the growth trajectory led by Mr. Modi from state leadership to national prominence.

Thematic Days Engage Youth, Women, Farmers and More

Senior Minister and state spokesperson Mr. Rushikesh Patel shared that each day of Vikas Saptah will be dedicated to specific themes, ensuring engagement from youth, women, farmers, and other key societal groups. The celebrations will kick off with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel taking the Bharat Vikas Pledge alongside ministers, officials, and citizens at government offices and educational institutions.

Flagship Exhibitions, Competitions, and Cultural Events on Opening Day

October 7 will feature a high-profile exhibition of flagship government schemes at Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad. The day’s activities include online quizzes, essay competitions in schools and colleges, lecture series at notable venues, and cultural performances. Additionally, cricket stars Mr. Hardik Pandya and Mr. Tilak Varma will participate in podcasts, complemented by a youth brainstorming session with over 1,000 participants at MS University in Vadodara.

Citizen Gratitude Reflected in Millions of Postcards

The Department of Cooperation has coordinated the writing of over one crore postcards thanking Prime Minister Modi for his social and economic initiatives such as GST reforms, Atmanirbhar Bharat, financial inclusion, and solar rooftop projects. College students have also contributed approximately 4.5 lakh postcards expressing appreciation for campaigns like Swadeshi Abhiyan and Operation Sindoor. These postcards will be displayed in a dedicated exhibition at Sabarmati Riverfront.

Employment Drives and Industry Partnerships to Boost Youth Opportunities

Employment fairs will take place across Gujarat’s districts, culminating in a major event in Gandhinagar where more than 50,000 youths will receive employment letters, including 25,000 provisional offer letters. The state will also sign MoUs with industries aimed at upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), bolstering vocational training and skill development.

Regional and Panchayat-Focused Events to Strengthen Local Governance

The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference will be held in Mehsana on October 9 and 10, focusing on northern Gujarat’s growth. The Panchayat department will organize events to distribute benefits from various government schemes and honor top-performing gram panchayats, reinforcing grassroots governance and rural development.

Cultural and Development Initiatives Across Municipalities

From October 12 to 13, nagarpalikas will witness the inauguration of new development projects alongside a Swadeshi Shopping Festival. Municipal corporations will host wall mural campaigns to beautify urban spaces, showcasing a blend of development and cultural pride.

Agricultural Seminars and Animal Health Camps to Support Farmers

On October 14, agricultural seminars and animal medical camps will be organized to provide farmers with the latest insights and healthcare services for livestock. Exhibitions on agriculture and allied topics will highlight innovations and opportunities in the sector.

Grand Finale: Inauguration of Projects Worth Rs. 3,326 Crore

The week will conclude on October 15 with the inauguration or foundation-laying of various development projects collectively worth Rs. 3,326 crore, signaling Gujarat’s continued commitment to infrastructural and social progress.

Educational Boost Through Swami Vivekananda Competitive Study Centres

In addition, 10 Swami Vivekananda Competitive Examination Study Centres will be inaugurated across the state during the week, aimed at enhancing academic resources and competitive exam preparation for students.
