Bengaluru: In the wake of speculative and allegedly misleading reports following a recent Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) accident involving the Indian Coast Guard, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has issued a strong rebuttal, condemning media narratives that it claims are biased, factually incorrect, and lacking the company’s viewpoint.

In an official statement, the Maharatna defence PSU expressed concern over commentary from various media outlets, defence bloggers, and even former armed forces personnel, stating that much of the criticism was based on outdated and resolved issues. HAL emphasized that many of these narratives had been constructed without giving the organization an opportunity to present its side.

“These stories are authored without offering HAL’s perspective, and arguments are one-sided and biased,” the statement read.

The company also warned that such speculative reporting could undermine stakeholder confidence and damage the public image of a critical national defence enterprise. The January incident involving the ALH has fueled a wave of media coverage, much of which HAL claims lacks a factual basis and fails to recognize the complexities of defence aviation.

Commitment to National Defence
Reiterating its dedication to transparency and accountability, HAL said it remains engaged with its clients, including the Indian Air Force, and is fully capable of addressing any technical and operational challenges in the aerospace and defence sector.

Due to the sensitive nature of its work, HAL noted that it cannot respond to each report individually, but assured that it continues to operate with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

“HAL would like to reiterate that it is working with all its customers and is confident of handling critical issues intrinsic to the defence aeronautics sector,” the company added.

Call for Responsible Reporting
The statement concluded with an appeal to stakeholders and the public to exercise caution and avoid being misled by “unwarranted and speculative stories.” HAL reaffirmed its commitment to operational excellence, customer engagement, and national defence.

This clarification aims to restore confidence among shareholders, partners, and the public, as HAL continues to play a pivotal role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.
