New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) proudly announced that renowned Indian mountaineer Aritra Roy has successfully scaled Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak outside Asia, standing at 6,967.15 metres above mean sea level. The solo expedition, fully sponsored by HAL, marks another significant step in Roy’s ambitious seven-summits challenge, following his successful ascent of Mount Everest.

Gruelling Expedition Conquered

Roy reached the summit on January 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time, completing a challenging 44-kilometre trek that tested his physical and mental endurance. The climb involved navigating extreme weather conditions, including temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius, snowstorms, and blizzards. Despite the harsh environment, Roy remained at the summit for 45 minutes, soaking in the achievement before commencing his descent.

In a message to HAL, Roy described the ascent of Mt. Aconcagua, also called the “Stone Sentinel”, as a humbling and demanding experience. He expressed his gratitude to HAL for supporting the expedition and dedicated the accomplishment to aspiring mountaineers and dreamers who pursue their goals with perseverance.
