A fresh political flashpoint has erupted in Haryana as INLD national president Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala responded sharply to allegations made by retired IPS officer Mr. Ram Singh Yadav, who claimed he would “hit him with 39 shoes.” What began as a sensational remark has now escalated into a serious legal confrontation, with Mr. Chautala announcing his intent to file a Rs.100 crore defamation suit. The episode has quickly transformed into a political narrative centered on truth, accountability, and public trust.
INLD President Hits Back With Legal Action
Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala stated that he will be initiating a Rs.100 crore defamation suit against the retired IPS officer. He asserted that the allegations were part of a deliberate conspiracy to tarnish his image and weaken the rising public support for the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Haryana.
Retired IPS Officer Reiterates His Claims
Meanwhile, Mr. Ram Singh Yadav has stood by his earlier remarks and stated that he is ready to face a defamation suit. He further declared that if he fails to prove his claims, he will pay Rs.100 crore to Mr. Chautala. However, he also claimed he lacks the financial capacity to independently file a case due to court fee requirements.
Chautala Labels Allegations as Politically Motivated
Mr. Chautala asserted that political opponents, unsettled by INLD’s growing influence, are resorting to fabricated narratives. He said that INLD neither practices deceit nor bows to political pressure, reiterating that the party’s strength comes from struggle, truth, principles, and the trust of the people.
INLD Warns Against False Propaganda
He emphasized that attempts to mislead the public through false statements would not be tolerated and would be met with firm legal action. He said the party would demand accountability and public apologies from those spreading defamatory claims.
Allegations Linked to Past Service Record
Mr. Chautala also questioned why the retired officer never submitted complaints to the IPS Association or other authorities in the past. He alleged that Mr. Yadav himself faced corruption-related issues during his service and questioned the timing of these allegations, calling them politically motivated.
INLD Prepares Legal Notice
A legal notice has already been drafted and will be sent to the retired IPS officer. According to Mr. Chautala, the officer must either publicly apologize or prove his claims in court. Failure to do so, he said, would result in strict legal consequences.
Retired Officer Responds to Legal Threat
In response, Mr. Yadav said that although he cannot afford to file a Rs.100 crore defamation case, he stands firm on his allegations. He reiterated that if he fails to prove them, he is prepared to pay Rs.100 crore to Mr. Chautala—but if proven true, Mr. Chautala should compensate him by the same amount.
