New Delhi: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjiv Kumar Singh, was honored with the Bhaskar Bhattacharjee Memorial Award by IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, during Basant 2026, part of the institution’s centenary celebrations. The award recognizes excellence, professional integrity, and outstanding contributions in the mining and mineral sectors.
Award Recognizes Excellence in Mining and Minerals
The Bhaskar Bhattacharjee Memorial Award is named after the late Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, former Director-General of Mines Safety (DGMS) and distinguished IIT (ISM) alumnus. It is presented to professionals who demonstrate exemplary service, teamwork, and adherence to high ethical standards in the mining and mineral industry.
Singh Addresses Industry–Institute Interaction Conclave
On the occasion, Mr. Singh also addressed the Industry–Institute Interaction (III-2026) Conclave focused on Smart Mining, Critical Minerals, and Green Energy, attended by industry leaders, academicians, and research partners.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to his mentors, family, and colleagues, and emphasized the strategic importance of copper in nation-building. He also highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between industry and academia to promote sustainable and future-ready mining practices.
