Hindustan Copper Limited’s (HCL) Khetri and Kolihan Copper Mines have been recognized for their exemplary performance during the 35th Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation (MEMC) Week 2024–25. The final day celebrations were held on April 27, 2025, in Ajmer, under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Ajmer Region.

HCL’s Khetri Copper Mine, located in Rajasthan, earned the 3rd Prize for Overall Performance in the Fully Mechanised Underground Mine category. Additionally, it secured top honors in the following categories:

  • 2nd Prize – Mineral Beneficiation
  • 2nd Prize – Waste Dump Management
  • 3rd Prize – Sustainable Development

Meanwhile, Kolihan Copper Mine, also part of HCL’s operations, achieved accolades in:

  • 1st Prize – Environmental Monitoring
  • 3rd Prize – Waste Dump Management

The awards ceremony was attended by senior HCL officials, including Mr. G. D. Gupta (Executive Director & Unit Head, KCC), Mr. Manish Gavai (DGM – Civil & Environment), Mr. Nagesh Rajpurohit (Chief Manager – Exploration), Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Senior Manager – Mines), and Mr. Narendra Pruseth (Manager – Mines).

Situated at the foothills of the Aravalli Range, the Khetri Copper Belt is an 80-kilometer-long metallogenetic province extending from Singhana in the north to Raghunathgarh in the south. It hosts significant copper mineralization and is part of the North Delhi Fold Belt. Major deposits in this region include Khetri, Kolihan, Banwas, Chandmari, Dhani Basri, and Baniwali Ki Dhani, along with newer deposits at Dholamala, Akwali, Muradpura–Pacheri (Jhunjhunu district), and Devtalai (Bhilwara district) in Rajasthan.

Hindustan Copper Limited, a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, is the country’s only vertically integrated copper producer. HCL is involved in the entire copper value chain — from mining and beneficiation to smelting, refining, and manufacturing of continuous cast copper rods.
