Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday completed their Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter enumeration forms and appealed to all eligible voters across the state to participate in the ongoing electoral roll revision exercise within the stipulated timeline.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) began on June 30 and will continue until July 29, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute, collect, and verify voter enumeration forms.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar Urges Citizens to Cooperate
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar submitted his SIR enumeration form to Booth Level Officers at Lok Bhawan.
Appealing to voters, the Governor urged all eligible citizens to promptly complete the forms when BLOs visit their homes.
In a post on X, he said citizens should sign and submit the forms immediately to ensure that every eligible voter’s name is included in the electoral roll.

CM Hemant Soren Calls Voting Rights a Democratic Responsibility
Chief Minister Hemant Soren completed his enumeration process at his official residence on Kanke Road in Ranchi.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister said safeguarding the right to vote is one of every citizen’s most important democratic responsibilities.
He appealed to all eligible voters to complete the SIR process within the prescribed deadline and verify their details in the voter list.
Soren emphasized that every citizen’s participation strengthens democracy and said that an updated and accurate electoral roll is the foundation of free, fair, and transparent elections.
Kalpana Soren Also Participates in SIR Exercise
Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren, wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, also filled out her SIR enumeration form during the exercise, supporting the statewide voter verification campaign.
Booth Level Officers Conducting Door-to-Door Verification
As part of the Special Intensive Revision, Booth Level Officers are visiting households across Jharkhand to:
- Distribute voter enumeration forms
- Collect completed forms
- Verify voter details
- Update the electoral rolls
The Election Commission aims to ensure that every eligible voter is accurately included in the electoral database.
Key Dates for Jharkhand SIR 2026
The Election Commission has announced the following schedule for the revision process:
- Enumeration Period: June 30 – July 29, 2026
- Draft Electoral Roll Publication: August 5, 2026
- Claims and Objections: August 5 – September 4, 2026
- Disposal of Claims and Objections: August 5 – October 3, 2026
- Final Electoral Roll Publication: October 7, 2026
Over 82% Voter Mapping Completed
Ahead of the enumeration drive, authorities completed parental mapping of 82.08% of Jharkhand’s approximately 2.64 crore registered voters using the 2003 electoral rolls as the reference.
However, around 47.41 lakh voters are yet to be mapped, making the ongoing verification exercise crucial for updating the electoral database.
CM Urges Public Participation
Chief Minister Hemant Soren also encouraged citizens to motivate their family members, neighbours, and others in their communities to actively participate in the SIR campaign.
He said widespread public cooperation would help create a comprehensive, transparent, and reliable voter list ahead of future elections.
