These agreements are expected to pave the way for modernization, skill development, and infrastructure enhancement in the state’s agri-business and livestock industries.

Revival and Modernization of Ranchi Bacon Factory

The first MoU focuses on the revival and modernization of the long-awaited Ranchi Bacon Factory, aiming to transform it into a state-of-the-art meat processing unit. The agreement was signed between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National Meat Research Institute (NMRI), Hyderabad, and Jharkhand’s Directorate of Animal Husbandry.

Under this MoU, the following initiatives will be undertaken:

  • Modernization of the Bacon Factory using advanced technology and scientific methods
  • Infrastructure development to boost the meat processing sector in the state
  • Implementation of international quality standards for processed meat
  • Training programs for local entrepreneurs and workers
  • Exploration of establishing technical training centers for the meat processing industry

Dr. M. Muthukumar, Chief Scientist at ICAR-NMRI, said the collaboration would give Jharkhand’s meat sector a new direction through modern technology and scientific approaches. Animal Husbandry Director Aditya Kumar Anand added that the Bacon Factory revival would benefit farmers, entrepreneurs, and consumers, laying the foundation for the state’s meat industry growth.
