Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to handover the charge of Director General of Himachal Pradesh Police to 1996 batch female IPS Satwant Atwal Trivedi.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and Secretary Personnel and home decided to hand over charge of DGP to Satwant Atwal. She has been appointed as acting DGP. Currently Atwal holds the charge of ADGP in State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau and CID.
Satwant Atwal Trivedi has the distinction of becoming the first woman IPS officer from the State of Himachal Pradesh. She also became the first woman officer to serve NIA and BSF.
She is a gold medalist in Clinical Psychology and in German, she has bagged the meritorious distinction of a Diploma in Investigation and Leadership from FBI National Academy. She has been conferred with the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 2012.
