The Himachal Pradesh government is looking to implement various skill development programs inspired by Karnataka’s successful initiatives. During a recent meeting at Vikasa Soudha, Rajesh Kumar Dharmani, the Himachal minister for town planning, housing, and technical education, praised Karnataka’s efforts in enhancing employability skills among its workforce.

Dharmani, who visited Karnataka to gain insights into its skill development strategies, expressed enthusiasm for adopting similar approaches in Himachal Pradesh following discussions with his Karnataka counterpart, Sharan Prakash Patil.

One initiative that particularly caught Dharmani’s attention is the International Migration Centre-Karnataka (IMC-K), which has been instrumental in placing skilled workers—such as drivers, nurses, fitters, and technicians—in international job markets, including the UAE and various European countries, as well as Japan.

“Karnataka’s focus on employability skills has successfully facilitated the placement of skilled workers abroad. I am keen to incorporate many of these programs in Himachal Pradesh. Given Karnataka’s status as a technology leader and its vibrant IT sector, the insights we gain will be invaluable,” Dharmani stated.

Patil, who welcomed the Himachal delegation, assured that Karnataka is willing to share its expertise and upskilling programs to aid the development of Himachal Pradesh’s workforce.
