Bengaluru: Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) launched a fleet of 59 Electric Vehicles (EVs) under its ambitious ‘Go Green’ initiative at its corporate headquarters in Bengaluru today. The move marks a significant step in integrating clean mobility into India’s aerospace sector.
The fleet was officially flagged off by Dr. D.K. Sunil, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), HAL, in the presence of senior leadership, including Mr. Barenya Senapati, Director (Finance) and Mr. Ravi K., Director (Operations). CEOs from various HAL divisions also joined virtually.
“HAL is aligning its operations with green and sustainable practices. The introduction of Electric Vehicles is a significant step toward building an ecologically responsible and future-ready aerospace ecosystem in India,” said Dr. D. K. Sunil, CMD, HAL.
Fleet to Serve Four Key Locations Initially
The 59 electric vehicles, supplied by Convergence Energy Service Limited (CESL), will be deployed across HAL’s divisions in Bengaluru, Nasik, Koraput, and Lucknow. This marks the first phase of EV deployment, with plans to scale up usage across all operational units in the future.
To support this transition, HAL has already installed EV charging stations at its facilities, ensuring seamless integration of these vehicles into day-to-day operations.
Sustainability Beyond Transport: A Holistic Approach
HAL’s green efforts extend beyond mobility. The organization has implemented a range of eco-friendly initiatives, including:
- Energy and water conservation programs
- River rejuvenation projects
- Advanced waste management systems
These initiatives are in line with HAL’s broader strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt sustainable business practices across all levels of operation.
“By embracing cleaner alternatives and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, HAL is setting an example for the Indian defence and aerospace sector,” said Mr. Barenya Senapati, Director (Finance), HAL.
Towards a Greener Future
HAL’s ‘Go Green’ initiative is part of a long-term vision to integrate clean energy, sustainable practices, and ecological responsibility into its core mission.
With this move, HAL becomes one of the first major defence PSUs to take such a structured and large-scale step towards decarbonizing internal mobility and promoting climate-conscious industrial growth.
