The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assigned the additional charge of Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) to Daljit Singh Chaudhary, an IPS officer of 1990 batch and the current Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), until a regular appointment is made or further orders are issued.
This decision follows the recent repatriation of BSF Director General Nitin Agrawal and Special Director General Y.B. Khurania to their respective state cadres. The central government issued an order on Friday repatriating Agrawal to his parent cadre in Kerala and Khurania to Odisha. This move comes amidst heightened concerns about infiltration along the Jammu border, which falls under the operational jurisdiction of the BSF.
According to the official order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the premature repatriation of both senior officers with immediate effect. The MHA’s decision reflects a significant reshuffling aimed at addressing operational and administrative needs within the BSF.
In addition to these changes, the MHA has also approved the appointment of Amrit Mohan Prasad, IPS, as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Prasad will assume his new role at Level-16 of the pay matrix from the date of joining the position until August 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
