Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has announced the appointment of Abhay Sharma as an Independent Director on its Board, effective May 9, 2025. The appointment, approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), is for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The company confirmed Sharma’s appointment in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, noting that he is not related to any existing directors and is not debarred from holding the position by any regulatory authority.
A veteran finance professional from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Sharma holds a postgraduate degree in Commerce and is a qualified Chartered Accountant, registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He brings with him decades of experience in finance, management, and taxation.
Sharma has actively contributed to several professional and industry bodies and has earned accolades such as the “Times Icon of Madhya Pradesh 2020” in the “Entrepreneur of the Year” category. He was also recognized among “The Luminaries” by the Chartered Accountants of Central India.
Beyond his professional practice, Sharma is a noted columnist and speaker, contributing to various tax journals and mainstream newspapers, and regularly speaking at seminars and industry conferences.
