Digha: West Bengal: Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) took a significant step in promoting sustainable agriculture as Dr. S. P. Mohanty, Managing Director of HURL, delivered the inaugural address at the Fertiliser Management Development Programme (FMDP) in Digha. The event, focused on advancing modern fertiliser management practices, brought together industry experts, policymakers, and agricultural stakeholders.

Visionary Inaugural Address

Dr. Mohanty, who also serves as the Co-Chairman of the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) – Eastern Zone, set a purposeful and visionary tone for the programme. In his address, he emphasised the critical role of fertiliser management in promoting balanced nutrient use, ensuring soil health, and supporting sustainable agricultural growth.

He noted that advancements in fertiliser management are essential not just for increasing crop yields but also for long-term sustainability, farmer prosperity, and national food security.

Collective Responsibility for Sustainable Agriculture

The session underlined the shared responsibility of all stakeholders—government, industry, and farmers—in promoting efficient nutrient management. Dr. Mohanty encouraged participants to actively engage in knowledge exchange and adopt best practices to create a more resilient agricultural ecosystem.
