New Delhi: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Aishvarya Singh, of the 2008 batch (Sikkim cadre), has officially completed her tenure as the Government Nominee Director of MMTC Ltd, a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Her term concluded on September 22, 2025.
She has now been relieved of her duties in the Department of Commerce and is set to take on her new role as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Distinguished Career Across Sectors
Smt. Aishvarya Singh has nearly 16 years of administrative experience, having held key positions in personnel and general administration, district management, and land revenue systems across Sikkim and central ministries.
Before joining the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, she served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, where she also represented the government as a non-executive director on the board of MMTC Ltd, one of India’s largest international trading companies.
Academic Excellence and Honours
A highly accomplished academic, Singh holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics (Gold Medalist) and a Postgraduate degree in Anthropology (Gold Medalist). Her blend of scientific and social science education has bolstered her policy acumen and governance skills.
National Recognition for Public Service
Aishvarya Singh was also a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for her exceptional leadership in implementing the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in West Sikkim district. Her efforts were recognized under the Northeastern & Hill States category, marking her as one of the standout performers in India’s sanitation revolution.
New Role Ahead
As Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Singh is expected to play a critical role in advancing the government’s flagship schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to ensure functional tap water connections for every rural household.
Her diverse experience and previous award-winning performance in sanitation governance are seen as valuable assets as she steps into this significant national role.
