New Delhi: The Central Government has extended the deputation tenure of Alok Tiwari (IAS:2007:UP) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, by another two years. The extension was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), enabling the Uttar Pradesh cadre officer to continue in the crucial policy-making role beyond his current tenure.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (June 25, 2026), the ACC approved the proposal of the Department of Economic Affairs to extend Tiwari’s central deputation for two years beyond September 26, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The extension comes in recognition of his contribution to the Department of Economic Affairs, where he has been serving since August 2024.

The DoPT order stated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal to continue Alok Tiwari’s services in the Department of Economic Affairs for another two years.
His extended tenure will commence after September 26, 2026, ensuring continuity in one of the Ministry of Finance’s key administrative positions.
Serving in DEA Since 2024
Alok Tiwari joined the Department of Economic Affairs in August 2024 as Joint Secretary.
Before moving to the Ministry of Finance, he served as the Private Secretary to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from September 2021, where he handled several important assignments within the Ministry of Defence.
