Her story, marked by resilience and unwavering support from her mother, deeply moved host Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and millions of viewers.
Ayushi’s Emotional KBC Moment: From Fastest Finger First to Hot Seat
Ayushi earned her spot on the hot seat after winning the Fastest Finger First round. The moment grew even more special when Amitabh Bachchan personally guided her to the chair – a gesture Ayushi called “unforgettable.” She expressed her lifelong admiration for the show, stating how her family had narrated the experience of watching KBC to her despite her visual impairment.
Mr Bachchan responded with heartfelt emotion, calling it a privilege to have Ayushi on the show. “People often tell me about you, how tall you are, your striking features, and how handsome you look,” Ayushi said playfully, deepening the connection.

A Mother’s Unwavering Support: Overcoming Challenges Together
IAS Ayushi’s mother, Asha Rani, joined the show to share her daughter’s early struggles. Ayushi was born with severe visual impairment and other health challenges. Despite only perceiving faint, blurry light in her childhood – which later diminished – Ayushi’s spirited determination remained undeterred.
“My mother quit her job to support me,” Ayushi revealed. “She recorded my books and helped me manage my studies using Braille. Her sacrifices made this journey possible.”
From Lecturer to IAS Officer: Achieving a Dream Against All Odds
Ms Ayushi is a 2022 batch IAS officer serving in the AGMUT cadre, currently posted as Assistant Collector in North Goa. She secured an impressive All India Rank 48 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, fulfilling her lifelong dream. Prior to joining the IAS, Ayushi worked as a lecturer for over a decade, balancing her career with rigorous UPSC preparation.
Early Life and Education: The Foundation of Resilience
Born on August 27, 1992, in Rani Khera, Northwest Delhi, Ms Ayushi’s academic journey was marked by determination. She completed her schooling at Deen Bandhu Sir Chotu Ram Public School, followed by a B.A. in Hindi and English from Delhi University and an M.A. in History from IGNOU.
Despite visual challenges, she pursued teaching roles in various Delhi schools until 2019 and continued preparing for UPSC alongside her professional commitments.

The UPSC Journey: Five Attempts of Perseverance and Success
IAS Ayushi’s path to becoming an IAS officer was not easy. She appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Exam five times, each attempt honing her skills and resolve. Her disciplined study schedule, strategic subject choices, and relentless dedication finally led to her success in 2022.
Present Role and Future Aspirations
Since joining the IAS in May 2023, Ms Ayushi has been serving as the Assistant Collector in North Goa, working toward inclusive governance and community development. Her story inspires many, particularly differently-abled aspirants, proving that determination can overcome even the toughest obstacles.
