The Government of India has appointed Ms. Chandni Singh (IAS), currently awaiting posting in her parent Uttar Pradesh cadre, as Private Secretary to Ms. Annpurna Devi, Minister for Women & Child Development.
Ms. Singh will assume the role at the Deputy Secretary level on central deputation for a five-year tenure in the Ministry of Women & Child Development.
A 2013-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer, Ms. Singh’s appointment comes as part of the central government’s process of assigning experienced officers to key ministerial positions. The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) cleared the appointment, which will see her support the Minister in policy implementation and administrative matters related to women and child welfare schemes.
The five-year deputation period reflects the government’s emphasis on continuity in key support positions within important social sector ministries. Ms. Singh is expected to join her new responsibilities shortly.
