New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the central deputation tenure of Gitanjali Gupta, serving as Additional Secretary in NITI Aayog.
According to a Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order issued on Monday, December 22, 2025, Gupta’s tenure has been extended beyond February 3, 2026, up to February 3, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Career Overview of Gitanjali Gupta
Ms Gupta, an IAS officer of the 1996 AGMUT cadre, has been serving as Additional Secretary in NITI Aayog since November 2023. Before this role, she was the Managing Director of the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, holding the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
Earlier in her career, she also served as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd., operating under the Ministry of Railways.

Guriqbal Singh Re-designated as Director in Home Ministry
In another key administrative development, Guriqbal Singh, a 2012-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been re-designated from Deputy Secretary to Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The DoPT order states that the re-designation will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date Singh assumes charge of the post, whichever is later. The appointment is valid up to February 24, 2030, in line with the five-year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further orders.
Career Details of Guriqbal Singh
Singh has been on central deputation since February 24, 2025. The re-designation follows a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs and has been approved by the competent authority.
