IAS Jitendra Srivastava Assumes Charge as CMD, REC Limited – Know More About Him

Prior to this role, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, since January 2023.

Gurgaon: Jitendra Srivastava, an IAS officer of 2000 batch from Bihar Cadre, today assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had approved his appointment on April 18, 2025. Shri Srivastava, a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, will serve in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

With over two decades of exemplary service, Mr Srivastava brings a wealth of administrative experience and sectoral knowledge. Prior to this role, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, since January 2023. In the Government of Bihar, he has held several key leadership positions including Secretary, Home Department and Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Mr Srivastava’s diverse experience spans critical sectors such as finance, power, education, infrastructure, and public health. His deep insight into both grassroots governance and central policymaking positions him strongly to lead REC Limited in its mission of supporting India’s expanding energy infrastructure and financing needs.

An alumnus of Hansraj College, Delhi University, Mr Srivastava holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Cochin University of Science and Technology.
