Indian Masterminds Stories

IAS officer Rahul Singh of the 1996 batch of Bihar cadre who is currently serving as Joint Secretary of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) is now appointed as a part-time member of the Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority (PFRDA) by the Modi government.

The three Part-time Member positions on the PFRDA Board have now all been filled as a result of this action. It may be recalled that the Center appointed ICAS Pankaj Sharma of batch 2000, who was working as the Joint Secretary for the Department of Financial Services (DFS), as a Part-time Member in May of this year. The other part-time member of the PFRDA Board is Annie George Matthew of batch 1988, who was working as the Additional Secretary of the Finance Ministry.

PERDA which regulates pension has a Chairman and along with this, it has three full-time and three part-time members. On May 31 of this year, two of the three full-time members—law and economics— vacated their positions.
