Chief Secretary of Gujarat, 1986 batch IAS officer, Pankaj Kumar who was scheduled to retire on May 31, has been given an extension in service.

“On Friday, the state government received the approval from the Government of India to extend the service of chief secretary Pankaj Kumar. Now, the general administration department will issue a formal order on Monday,” said a source close to the development.

Kumar, who had earlier served as secretary to PM Modi when he was the Gujarat chief minister, had got a very short term as the chief secretary so there was speculation that the government may give him an extension.
