The recent viral video of Surajpur, Chhattisgarh collector, Ranbir Sharma, in which he can be seen slapping a person and breaking his mobile phone, while on a patrolling round during the lockdown, is spreading like wildfire across the country. Numerous celebrities, politicians, and important government officials and bodies including the IAS Association of India have condemned the act of the collector. He has also been ripped off his duties by the Chhattisgarh state government, owing to his awful attitude towards the public. The suspended IAS officer also took to the media to apologize for his behavior and give clarifications.
Now, IAS officer from Jharkhand and the District Magistrate of Dumka, Ms. Rajeshwari B has taken to Twitter to condemn the officer’s act while simultaneously implying that his behavior does not represent the entire IAS fraternity of the country and that his individual personality speaks volume through what he has done.
Ms. Rajeshwari tweeted the following thought:
By saying this I am not defending the officer but the service which inspires millions of youth each day. The government is competent to take any action on him for his despicable behavior. As officers we do have to set an example of 'how to be', clearly this officer has failed to. https://t.co/2lwgmqH0r5
