Indian Masterminds Stories

A seasoned bureaucrat from the Jharkhand cadre, Ms. Nidhi Khare (1992 batch IAS), was mandated to assume office as Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. Ms. Khare, who had been serving as an Additional Secretary in the same department, shall step into the shoes of Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh (1989 batch IAS) upon his superannuation.

Ms. Khare has served in various capacities during her decades-long stint in the bureaucracy, particularly in the Jharkhand state administration. She served as the Principal Health Secretary, Principal Secretary in the Department of Commercial Taxes, and as District Collector (DC) of Jamshedpur, Dumka, and Madhubani. Thus, she brings a gamut of experiences to her new posting.

Her appointment comes at a crucial juncture, especially as the Department of Consumer Affairs is actively striving to bolster the aspects of consumer protection mechanisms and address their urgent issues in an overtly digital marketplace.
