New Delhi: The Government of India has approved the assignment of additional charges to two senior IAS officers for key secretary-level positions during the leave period of their counterparts. This move ensures continuity in the administrative functioning of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and the Ministry of Tourism.
Sanjeev Chopra Gets Additional Charge of Food Processing Industries
Mr Chopra, IAS (OR: 1990), currently serving as Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, has been given the additional charge of the Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
This temporary assignment is effective from August 9 to August 21, 2025, during the leave period of A.P. Das Joshi, IAS (AM: 1994). Chopra, with extensive experience in food policy and public distribution systems, is expected to provide seamless leadership during the short-term overlap.
Vivek Aggarwal Assigned Additional Charge of Tourism Ministry
Simultaneously, the government has also assigned Mr Aggarwal, IAS (MP: 1994), who is the current Secretary, Ministry of Culture, the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.
This assignment will be effective from August 11 to September 4, 2025, during the leave period of Ms. V. Vidyavathi, IAS (KN: 1991). IAS Aggarwal’s leadership in cultural affairs and administrative management is expected to support the ongoing initiatives of the Tourism Ministry during this period.
Continuity in Administration During Absences
These additional charge assignments are part of routine administrative arrangements aimed at maintaining continuity of governance and policy implementation. Both Chopra and Aggarwal are experienced bureaucrats known for their capable handling of central government departments.
