Ms. Vishwasree B (2014-batch IAS officer, Tripura cadre) has been appointed as Executive Director, Tobacco Board, Guntur, at the Deputy Secretary level. Her appointment comes as part of the Central Staffing Scheme, and she will serve in the position as per the terms of her deputation.
The Tobacco Board of India, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is responsible for the development, regulation, and promotion of the tobacco industry in India. Headquartered in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, it oversees activities such as tobacco production, grading, marketing, and export facilitation. The board also works to ensure fair pricing for farmers, promotes quality standards, and supports research and sustainable practices in tobacco cultivation.
